7th Grade

Increased academic demand is the hallmark of the seventh grade at Chaminade. Seventh grade students learn to develop and perfect their organization and study skills to keep up with an elevated work load. Time management and attention to detail are cornerstone skills that are stressed by the entire faculty, who challenge each student to fulfill his potential.

The seventh grade curriculum strikes a balance between traditional and modern disciplines. The curriculum is rooted heavily in the disciplines of English, Health Science, Math, Theology, Geography, and Physical Education. In addition to these traditional subjects, seventh grade boys also begin the study of classical Latin. Seventh grade boys remain in their mentor group under the tutelage of their same mentor teachers, who check on the boys daily to discuss day-to-day scholastic achievements.

Seventh grade students also benefit from a more fully developed athletics and activities program. Interscholastic competition is offered in soccer, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, football, cross country, wrestling, tennis, golf and other sports. Also, as seventh grade students, Chaminade gentlemen are invited to participate in area drama productions and performing arts. Numerous clubs, from table tennis to model rocketry, round out the extra curricular offerings and allow each young man to pursue his interests. These increased offerings not only provide an outlet for each boy’s talent, but they also reinforce the lessons of time management and organization.
