I. Course Description
The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of the aspects of personal health. This course covers the systems of the body and the five elements of health (physical, mental/emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and social) and how these relate to each of us. Information will be presented in PowerPoint, labs, in-class activities, homework, guest speakers, and field trips.
II. Desired Learning Outcomes and Evidence for Assessment
1. Apply some of the math skills learned in 7th grade.
2. Organize information from multiple sources to prepare for tests.
3. Write concisely.
4. Know how to use communication and research software on the laptop.

Laptops will be used in all of the following ways:

VI. Performance Expectations
Students are expected to complete all assigned work on time to get credit. Late work will be accepted for ½ credit one class day after it is due and then for no credit after that. Work that is missed due to illness can be turned in for full credit up to 1 week after the day it is due (unless multiple absences are involved).

VIII. Classroom Decorum
Students will observe all school policies for dress code and behavior.
IX. Attendance Expectations
Students are expected to make all classes unless they have an excused absence from the main office. For missed work refer to Performance Expectations.
X. Cheating, Plagiarism
Cheating is defined as an attempt to turn in work that was not done by the person who is turning it in. This can be applied to homework, quizzes, tests and projects. Any student caught cheating will get a zero on the assignment, be referred to the administration, and will have his parents notified.
