Once the Bush Honeysuckle has been removed from an area, it is important to get native plants planted in the area. Plants that have evolved in this area are adapted to the soil type, the water levels, and the animals that are found here and have an easier time finding an ecological balance than non-native species. There is a greater diversity of plants that coexist when the non-natives have been removed. This increase in biodiversity attracts wildlife and can increase the intrinsic value of a property.
The other benefit is that various plants use the soil differently and thus help build soil character and reduce or eliminate erosion! It is the goal of this project to plant as many native missouri plants on the property as can be reasonable sustained for these very reasons.
