Alaska Adventure

Itinerary

Day 1:             We arrived in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska.  We saw the city of Anchorage by foot and spent some time relaxing after the flight.  We saw salmon running.

Day 2:             We wnet north to beautiful Palmer, Alaska’s gateway to Denali National Park. There, after a short horse riding lesson, we mounted our horses and rode into the wilds of the backcountry.

Days 3, 4, 5:   We spent a few awe-inspiring days in Denali National Park with gorgeous panoramic views.  We spent time on hikes to mountain lakes and mountain tops, taking pictures of wildlife and mount McKinley, and having fun in the out doors camping at a wilderness campground with bathrooms and showers.  We even had mass outdoors.

Day 6:             We Headed East on the Denali Highway through the remote, untamed interior. We enjoyed incredible scenery and saw many forms of Alaskan wildlife along the way. We traveled west, stopped at and climbed a glacier (awsome!) and stayed at Sheep Mountain Inn.

Day 7:             We then headed south, stopping at the Worthington Glacier for a quick hike to the foot of the glacier.  Our trip south to Valdez continued where along the road we saw many cascading waterfalls.   We arrived in Valdez, home to breathtaking mountains and the terminating point of the 800 mile long Trans-Alaskan Pipeline.

Day 8:             We went Salmon fishing and caught 16 silver and pink salmon.  A great day on a cool boat.

Day9:              Despite the rainy weater, the ferry from Valdez through the beautiful Alaskan fjords on a 6 hour journey by sea from Valdez to Whittier, was a wonderful time.  We then drove the rest of the way to complete the central Alaskan loop and return to Anchorage.

Day 10:           Say good bye to the great white north and fly back home.
