The Bio Club is a before and after school activity for all grades, 6-12. It is moderated by Mr. Tim Pendleton and meets in room 001 (a.k.a. The Bio Lab). The essential purpose of the club is for students to gain of understanding for plants and animals by taking care of the various specimens the Bio Lab has to offer. This includes feeding, cleaning, pruning, and breeding the organisms as well as establishing suitable individual environments for them to live in. Some of the animals in the Bio Club include turtles, snakes, lizards, mice, crickets, snails, fish, and many others. This hands on approach with animals provides kinesthetic learning that is fun for all members.
Outside of the Lab, the Bio Club partakes in “traveling zoos” in which Mr. Pendleton takes a handful of members and a group of animals to various elementary schools where the Chaminade students present and teach the younger students about the animals.
Also, every summer students may go on the Bio Club Float Trip. This three day float down the Big Piney River consists of fishing, camping, and the gathering of new specimens for the Bio Lab.
