Hello and Welcome to Chemistry with Dr. Howard Wright   Minimize

                           Welcome to My Webpage
My name is Dr. Howard Wright and I have been teaching chemistry for over 8 years.  During these eight years, I have had the privilege of teaching General Chemistry, Honors Chemistry and Advanced Placement Chemistry along with being Dean of the Maucler House.

My background is in Nuclear Medicine, Biochemistry and Anatomy.  I received my bachelors degree from the University of California San Diego and received my doctorate in Dentistry from Washington University School of Dentistry.  I practiced general dentistry in downtown St. Louis for nearly 20 years until I retired and pursued a carrier in teaching.  Along with being a dentist and teacher, I have started a small business with my wife where I manufacture the Storm whistle, the loudest whistle in the world, (that also works underwater) and a toothpaste that  changes color.
Along with being a chemistry professor, I am also the High School Dean of the Mauclerc House.

My greatest love is my wife and three children. My wife is also a teacher at Chaminade, my son Tom and twin daughters Angela and Jessica attend St. Louis University, the Architecture school at the University of Kansas and the University of  Chicago respectively

My hero is my brother Dr. Kenneth Wright.  Arguable the greatest pediatric eye surgeon in the world and the  man I aspire to be like.  He taught me how to surf at age 10, wrestle at age 16,  be a doctor at 25,  and how to love God at 40.

My hobbies include fishing, surfing,  bow hunting, snow skiing, camping and hiking.  I love taking pictures and every once in a while like to just sit and read a good science fiction book.

My approach to teaching is similar to my own personal belief in Christ.  I can clearly see Christ in my life and in the Holy Scriptures and in my chemistry.  I truly believe that as we learn more about the world around us we see more of the glory of God.  Father Chaminade wrote "Lord, help us ponder your designs within our hearts and thereby serve as models of prayer and love bearing witness to faith in you". It is my vocation to enable my students to understand God's designs and through that understanding become model Christians.  Toward that end I try and make chemistry relevant by utilizing real live examples, compressive by asking a great deal of my students and fun telling lots of stories.
